Pianist and vocal conductor Mathieu Pordoy is renowned as a specialist of the French repertoire, which he has performed in the most prestigious theaters: Wiener Staatsoper, Opera de Zurich, Opéra de Paris, Théâtre de La Monnaie, Opéra de Monte Carlo with such eminent conductors as François-Xavier Roth, Fabio Luisi, Mikko Franck, John Eliot Gardiner, Louis Langrée, Michele Mariotti...
Keen to pass on his knowledge, he has been invited to coach young singers at the International Vocal Art Institute in Tel-Aviv and Montreal, as well as at the Academies of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, the Opéra national de Paris and the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence.
Mathieu is a much sought-after recitalist, collaborating with Sabine Devieilhe (Carnegie Hall, Musikverein Vienna, Philharmonie de Paris, Wigmore Hall London, Opéra de Zurich, Festival Aix with recording for Arte Concert...), with whom he is recording a CD of Mozart/Strauss lieder to be released in 2024 by Warner Erato. With singer Marina Rebeka (Teatro Real de Madrid, Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory live on Rossiya TV, Salle Gaveau Paris, Palau de les Arts Valencia...) they have recorded for the Prima classic label in association with the Palazzetto Bru-Zane an album of melodies entitled “Voyage(s)”. More recently, Mathieu performed with Diana Damrau and Nicolas Teste in Hong Kong as part of their Asian tour.
A privileged partner of tenor Michael Spyres, he gave a series of recitals with the latter at the Operas of Bordeaux and Frankfurt, as well as at the Festival de Lanaudière in Quebec and in La Coruña, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain. Their 100% Rossini program: “Mr Crescendo” was a success at Théâtre de L'Athénée, Capitole de Toulouse and Atelier lyrique de Tourcoing. In September 2022, they are invited for 2 recitals at Armory Park Avenue in New York and at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
In the summer of 2021, Mathieu debuted at the Salzburg Festival in a highly acclaimed recital with Benjamin Bernheim, filmed for Medici Tv. This recital was repeated at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées and Vienna's Konzerthaus. They performed Schumann's Dichterliebe for the 2022 edition of the Aix en Provence Festival.
Projects are also underway with singer Pene Pati.
A native of south-western France, Mathieu obtained his first prize in voice direction, unanimously and with congratulations from the jury, at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he taught from 2006 to 2011.
Mathieu currently holds the position of casting advisor for the Opéra Comique in Paris and the Opéra de Dijon, and is involved with associations that promote music to remote audiences.
